Saturday's Hike recalled

I'm posting photos from my hike yesterday on my yahoo 360 site. I really needed that time by myself with the camera. Could have taken more photos but forgot to bring an additional memory card.
Looks like the balancing stones from last year have all fallen but that's the beauty of them. In the spring me and whoever the other people are who are building them will have the pleasure of rebuilding.
Deb and I went to brunch at Sally Lund's Tea House. One of our favorite places. Deb had the afternoon tea with Black Currant Tea while I had the Chicken Curry Salad with apples, raisins and some Mango juice squeezed in. Tea was Blood Orange Tea. We will be making the chicken curry this summer for sure for our guest. We're also working on recreating the receipe for Lavendar Lemon Punch. Found food grade Lavendar at the health food store and we have found receipe's online. Seems it starts with making an lavendar infusion which you add to the Lemonade. Should be fun.
Later today I plan on working on the logo for the Equality Playwrights Festival for DiverseCity Theater. And some other less exciting projects for work.
I really want to get to finishing up the ice shots from last year and compiling a book.
Also want to do other books featuring the photos of the Crosscut wood.
And what may be my favorite when I get enough photos, Rust.
My fascination with rusted metal has been a life long thing. even as a kid I remember picking up piece. Part of the fun is they're fractal nature and also the temporary nature. Very similar to what Andy Goldsworthy sees in his constructions.
This is the same reason I like balancing stones in the woods and in the backyard.
An idea. I would like to see about carving a totem for the backyard.
Need to call Arlene or one of the sculptors from Penumbra and see where to buy good wood

What to Do?

Kind of down today, was just reading about the Frieze Art Show in London.
God I want to be part of that.
I want my paintings in galleries in London, NYC, Taos
I really need to take care of sending out packets.
I have been stagnent about this too long.
This is the year to do it.
What am I afraid of?
Success, Failure, maybe indifference.
It seem like most people with any art background love the stuff.
I'm still unsure on one level.
On another level I know the work is good and unique.
I will work this out.
In the next month.

Ten Commandments

The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a Courthouse is that you cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery" and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians

It creates a hostile work environment.

Can't stand the PUNishment

1. Two antennas met on a roof, fell in love and got married. The
ceremony wasn't much, but the reception was excellent.

2. A jumper cable walks into a bar. The bartender says, "I'll serve
you, but don't start anything."

3. Two peanuts walk into a bar, and one was a salted.

4. A dyslexic man walks into a bra. (I wonder if I could get away with this?!)

5. A man walks into a bar with a slab of asphalt under his arm
and says: "A beer please, and one for the road."

6. Two cannibals are eating a clown. One says to the other:
"Does this taste funny to you?"

7. "Doc, I can't stop singing 'The Green, Green Grass of Home'."
That sounds like 'Tom Jones Syndrome." "Is it common?"
"Well, 'It's Not Unusual'."

8. Two cows are standing next to each other in a field. Daisy
says to Dolly, "I was artificially inseminated this morning." "I
don't believe you," says Dolly. "It's true, no bull!", exclaims
Daisy.

9. An invisible man marries an invisible woman. The kids were
nothing to look at either.

10. Deja Moo: The feeling that you've heard this bull before.

11. I went to buy some camouflage trousers the other day but I
couldn't find any.

12. A man woke up in a hospital after a serious accident. He
shouted, "Doctor, doctor, I can't feel my legs!" The doctor
replied, "I know you can't - I've cut off your arms!"

13. What do you call a fish with no eyes?? A fsh.

14. Two fish swim into a concrete wall. One turns to the other
and says, "Dam!".

15. I went to a seafood disco last week...and pulled a mussel.

16. Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly, so they lit a fire in
the craft. Unsurprisingly it sank, proving once again that you
can't have your kayak and heat it too.

17. A group of chess enthusiasts checked into a hotel and were
standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament
victories. After about an hour, the manager came out of the
office and asked them to disperse. "But why?" they asked,
as they moved off. "Because" he said, "I can't stand
chess-nuts boasting in an open foyer."

18. A woman has twins and gives them up for adoption. One of
them goes to a family in Egypt and is named "Ahmal." The
other goes to a family in Spain; they name him "Juan." Years
later, Juan sends a picture of himself to his birth mother.
Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she
wishes she also had a picture of Ahmal. Her husband
responds, "They're twins! If you've seen Juan, you've seen
Ahmal."

19. Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the
time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his
feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and
with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made
him a super calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.

20. And finally, there was the person who sent twenty different
puns to his friends, with the hope that at least ten of the puns
would make them laugh. No pun in ten did.

International Songwriting Competition

Oh well, got word last night the "Walking the Dog" did not make it into the semi-finals. Was surprized it made it as far as the third cut. Whew. Now I can keep focused on the visual arts.

Sound of Six

Was contacted the other day by a new progressive rock band "Sound of Six". They wanted to know if I would be willing to collaborate with them on artwork for the band, website, CD, marketing, etc. I have agreed and have heard some of their older cuts. They are influenced by "art" bands from the mid seventies, Yes, Gentle Giant, Rush, ELP etc. Right up my alley since that is what I listened to growing up. So far the drummer Michael is taking care of the web and has chosen images from "The Jury" to represent each of the members of the group. This should be fun. I love collaborating with other artists.

No more as of yet on if "Walking the Dog" made it through another round of cuts in the International Songwriters Competition. It would be cool if it made it into the semi-finals but what will be will be. I did it for myself not to enter into a competition.

Interesting Psychological Fact

A study conducted by UCLA's Department of Psychiatry has revealed that the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle.

For example: If she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features.

However, if she is menstruating, or menopausal, she tends to prefer a man with scissors lodged in his temple and a bat jammed up his ass while he is on fire.

Further studies in this area have been cancelled.

Another Sunday

Yesterday was great. Pick up the new puppy for Mom and Vinnie and took it down.
"Fluffy" a 2-month old Bishon is incredibly cute and will help them greatly.
With Vinnie's Alzhiemers getting worse they both need the distraction and the joy.

Received notification last week that "Walking the Dog" made it to the third round in the International Song Writing Competition. I wonder if it has legs enough to get into the semi finals. I don't know how to feel about this since it was only the second thing I've ever written, and most of it is composed of Apple loops.

Did three good drawings on Thursday while waiting for the varnish to dry on "Spin" (oil painting).
Spin is taking a lot longer since i had to remove a major element in the background. It just wasn't working.
In the meantime I will start a mixed media piece based on one of the new sketches.
Can't waint to have Spin finished, I probably shouldn't have chosen it, there are others I realllllly want to do.

Just posted my photos from 2005 on my yahoo 360 site.
Damn I'm good (he says modeslty).
Glad to have finally put them all in one place.

Coming up.....
How do I merchandise my art onto fashion items.
Our friend Bob Reilly who works for DKNY (executive level) might be of some real assistance.
I need to get to some accessories trade shows.
